DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – Police say a burglary suspect used social media to invite people to a party at the vacationing victim’s home.

Police responded at about 9:55 pm last Sunday to the home in the 6200 block of Stirrup Court in Lower Paxton Township for a report of a burglary in progress.

The owners of the home were on vacation out of state and they had a family member checking on the home for them. When the family member went to the home, she discovered a large party was ongoing and then the party goers scattered.

However, she did recognized Jacob Owens, 18, who lives nearby and who was aware that the home would be vacant.  Police discovered that the garage door was open and the homeowner’s cigars and snacks had been consumed.

An investigation revealed that Owens had invited people to the party via Snapchat, a social media platform. After police obtained a warrant for Owens, he turned himself in on Monday.
