MOUNTVILLE, Pa. – Police in Lancaster County say a military recruiter’s home was struck by bullets in a early morning “drive by” style shooting.  West Hempfield Township Police responded to a shots fired report at about 1:14 am this morning at the home along the 400 block of West Main Street, Mountville Borough.

When officers arrived on the scene they discovered that the home which is being rented by United States Marines recruiter was struck numerous times. Shell casings from a handgun were located in the driveway to the home. Two rounds were fired through the front window and into the living room. The Marine recruiter was the only one at home at the time and was uninjured.  A small gray vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic with a loud exhaust was seen fleeing the scene.

Investigators are following up leads that indicate the suspect or suspects targeted the wrong house. They do not feel that it was a random shooting. West Hempfield Township Police are working with military investigators due to the victim being an armed services recruiter.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Detective George F. Brace, Jr., at (717) 285-5191 or 1-800-957-2677.
