DILLSBURG, Pa.-- People gathered in York County on Saturday to honor local heroes who fought in World War II.
The Northern York County Historical Preservation Society, along with the National 'Keep the Spirit of 45 Alive' Organization, planned the event at Dill's Tavern in Dillsburg.
It's also meant to honor the day the world learned of Japan's surrender to Allied Forces.
Folks there took a step back in time with re-enactors and World War II era vehicles.
They could also view military art prints, including a "Wall of Honor" wall, featuring local veterans' war stories and photos.
"We made the promises to some wonderful guys and we will do for this for a long as we could, those who lost their grandfathers, fathers and sons in World War II, if they were in the infantry we want them to know what they went through with some closure," says Arthur Staymates, 1st Infantry Division.
Proceeds from today's event will go to the York County Historical Society.
