LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – A Florida woman was driving drunk in a fatal crash involving her 2008 Mercedes C300 and a 1978 Chevrolet Caprice on March 13, 2014, in the 1800 block Old Philadelphia Pike and Chateau Hill in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County.
Township police say the driver of the Chevrolet was Sharon M. Mulhatten, 71, of Lancaster. Troy M. Mulhatten, 52, of Lancaster, was a front seat passenger.

The driver of the Mercedes was identified as 42 year old Patricia Halgash, Police say Halgash was traveling eastbound on Old Philadelphia Pike when her Mercedes veered to the right out of the lane of travel and struck the curb in the northeast corner of the intersection with Chateau Hill. The Mercedes then careened back across the roadway into the oncoming westbound lane of Old Philadelphia Pike and struck the Chevrolet Caprice nearly head on.

Both Mulhatten’s sustained serious bodily injuries from the collision and required extrication from the car. Sharon Mulhatten was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Halgash sustained only minor injuries from the collision.

Halgash was charged on Friday with one count each of Homicide by Vehicle, Homicide by Vehicle While under the Influence, Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, Aggravated Assault by Vehicle While Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under the Influence- General Impairment, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance, and Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic (S).

Halgash was arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
