CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. – Police make a quick arrest in a bank robbery.  It happened at about 5:48 pm Thursday at the Santander Bank in the 700 block of East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg.

When officers arrived on scene, witnesses reported that a white male jumped over the counter and took some cash from a bank teller.   Witnesses were able to provide a description and license plate number of fleeing robbers’ vehicle, a blue in color Ford Mustang.

A car matching that description was spotted minutes later by an Upper Allen Township Police officer and followed. The officer radioed for back up units while following the suspect’s car. Upon the arrival of the other units, a traffic stop was conducted and the driver was taken into custody.

The bank teller had told police about seeing a firearm in Turner’s waistband during the robbery. A firearm was recovered.

The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Turns of the 1400 block of Fry Loop Lane, Carlisle. Turns was taken to the Cumberland County Prison to await arraignment.  He is expected to be charged with Robbery and other criminal charges.  Police say their investigation is still active.
