MARIETTA, Pa.– A Church in Lancaster County is helping to feed the hungry.
The Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marietta packed over 21,000 meals on Sunday to be delivered to local food banks. It’s one of 14 congregations supporting the cooperative effort, providing food for as many as 180 families in need throughout Lancaster County.

“We packed at least 24,000 because there’s at least 24,000 hungry kids in Lancaster County alone; 59,000 hungry people, but we wanted to at least feed all the hungry kids. We’re at $708 right now, if we collect that, we can package the last almost 3,000 meals and it will be 30,000 people fed,” says Matthew Martin, Regional Manager of Outreach, Inc.

People from all congregations also gather to pack special boxes throughout the holiday seasons.
