PAXTANG, Pa. - U.S. congressman Lou Barletta visited the Paxtang Fire Company in Dauphin County. It's part of his Main Street Tours series in which he meets with people in the district he represents.
Barletta says he understands the importance of listening to firefighters and thanking them for what they do for the community. In Pennsylvania, 97% of firefighters are volunteers.
"They find it harder and harder to have the funding to buy equipment ... they're always doing fundraisers just to stay alive and they're saving taxpayers so much money," said Barletta.
Representative Barletta also met with elected officials and business owners to discuss projects they are working on and issues they are facing.
