CRANFORD, N.J. — Two former employees at a New Jersey daycare center have been charged with fourth-degree child abuse for allegedly encouraging children in their care to fight.
Erica Kenny, 22, and Chanese White, 28, worked at the Lightbridge Academy daycare center. Kenny also faces an additional charge of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
The women allegedly coordinated the fights and recorded the children shoving and pushing each other to the ground.
PIX11 reports that prosecutors say about a dozen boys and girls ages 4-6 could be seen in videos fighting.
In one of the videos, Kenny allegedly uses the phrase “fight club” to describe the children’s activities.
The videos were allegedly shared using the social media app SnapChat.
None of the children in the videos are believed to have suffered any injuries.
An investigation into the incident continues. If convicted, the women could face up to 5 years in prison.
