LANCASTER, Pa. – At a re-sentencing hearing Monday morning, a Lancaster County Judge ordered a higher sentence for a Columbia Borough man who broke into a Lancaster City woman’s home last September and repeatedly stabbed her for an hour.

Elswart R. Bodden, 24, will serve 37 and a half to 95 years in state prison for the 2014 attack, which the victim survived despite being stabbed over 20 times.

Last month, Bodden received a sentence of 10 years fewer, but was called back for re-sentencing after a discrepancy was found in sentencing guidelines.

The 30-year-old woman was Bodden’s neighbor, but she hadn’t seen him before the attack. She survived after calling 9-1-1 from the floor of an upstairs room.  Bodden was arrested without incident later that evening in Ephrata Borough.

A local jury convicted Bodden in June of Attempted Murder, Robbery, and other charges.

Lancaster County Assistant District Attorney Christopher Lechner prosecuted the case.
