LANCASTER, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Superior Court declined to hear an appeal, from an inmate serving a 15-to-30-year sentence for robbing 10 Lancaster County neighborhood stores. Arieset Galarza-Ruiz, 31, claimed that his defense attorney gave him some bad advice.

He pleaded guilty last year to a string of 2013 armed convenience and gas station robberies, many of them near his home, between October and December 2013. He netted about $2,000 in all the robberies.  Galarza-Ruiz claims he entered a guilty plea because his attorney promised that by doing so, he would get a more lenient sentence.

In it’s ruling onTuesday, the high court writes that Galarza-Ruiz’s attorney didn’t overlook any basis for appeal. The high court also ruled that Galarza’s allegation regarding his attorney should have been argued on prior appeal.
