MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Garbage workers do the dirty work of moving trash on a daily basis, so they're being recognized for their efforts.  The York County Solid Waste Authority and Covanta York Renewable Energy are celebrating "Hauler Appreciation Day."  The company provided workers with packed lunches and held a special giveaway to celebrate those who help keep the community clean.

"Everyone appreciates a cold drink on a hot day or a hot drink on a cold day," County Solid Waste Spokesperson Ellen O'Connor said. "I know in my neighborhood I try to put stuff out for people and just to give them a thumbs up to say 'thank you,' you know?  A simple 'thank you' goes a long way."

The authority holds these events quarterly to show their appreciation.
