YORK, Pa. - Students at York College are giving back to their community.

On Saturday, hundreds came out for the University's annual Spartan Service Day.

Students participated in several projects around the city, including Big Brothers and Big Sisters of York County and Punks 4 Positivity.

Those involved say the event is a great way to get the younger generation more involved in the city of York.

Volunteer, Emma Frazier says, "It's a really good way to get involved in the community, you get to learn a lot more about York City and the Historical aspect of it to know the resources available to us. It's a great way for college kids to get out in the community and help out."

This is the third year the event has been held for students.
