LITITZ, Pa. — An 18-year-old man facing charges in connection with the heroin overdose death of a Lititz teenager in July will be heading to trial, according the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office.

Desmond Vargas, 18, waived his preliminary hearing on Friday. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession with intent to deliver or manufacture a controlled substance.

Prosecutors allege Vargas sold multiple bags of heroin to a Lititz teen who died after using the drugs on July 20.

An autopsy performed on the 18-year-old victim showed he died of a cardiac arrest due to a drug overdose, investigators said. Two witnesses who used heroin with the victim told police they purchased the drugs from Vargas, according to prosecutors.

Vargas remains in Lancaster County Prison. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23.
