A BREAK
After a widespread 1-3” fell overnight across the area, today we’ll get a bit of a break.  The front stalls far enough east to keep showers isolates during the day.  Clouds will hang tough.  We’ll hit the lower 70s, but as the wind picks up through the day, cooler air will begin arriving by evening.  Expect a northwest breeze at 10-20mph with higher gusts.

Thursday, it’s much cooler with highs only in the lower to middle 60s.  It’s breezy as well.  The stalled front will allow moisture and energy to move back in from the south, so expect a few showers to arrive closer to evening.

STEP 1
Friday, moisture pushes back into the state aloft while cooler air funnels in underneath it.  We’re in for a wet and damp day with breezy, showery weather expected all day.  Highs are stuck in the upper 50s.  It’s the first step in a complex forecast.

JOAQUIN & OUR FORECAST
***Folks, let me preface this now by stating this is one of the most difficult forecasts I’ve had to make in a very long time.  A number of factors will come into play here including the stalled front, an upper level low and the dynamics of Joaquin over the next few days.  So, take this, and any other forecast you see for that matter with a reasonable amount of uncertainty that exists by the very nature of the chaotic atmosphere.  Please check back often***

We’re watching several model runs very closely over the next few days.  The biggest factor is how Joaquin will interact with this upper low and stalled front.  Many models slingshot Joaquin around the edge of the low and wobble it thereafter.  This puts clouds, winds, and rain in our forecast for Saturday into Sunday if it were to play out.  We’re calling for clouds and rain for the weekend, but exact timing and amounts are a long way from being even close to accurate.  Highs are in the 60s for now.  As mentioned, there’s a high likelihood for changes here.

NEXT WEEK
Depending on how Joaquin interacts with us, we do anticipate some clearing and drying as we move into the middle part of the week.  We may delay this a day or so due to the tropical system.

Make it a wonderful Wednesday.
