CARLISLE, Pa. - Folks in Carlisle are helping some four-legged friends find a family and forever home.

The Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center hosted a Canine Carnival, Saturday.

10 rescue groups took part, bringing several dogs up for adoption to the event.

The day gave people a chance for pet vaccines at a low cost, free dog tags, and offered doggie baths.

Organizers say they are always looking for ways to help homeless dogs and animals.

Helen Schultz, Marketing and Admissions at Claremont says, "Getting therapy for them, it's more of a home life atmosphere.  For them to have visitors, it brings a lot of joy to our staff and families as well."

All of the proceeds made at the event will go towards local rescue groups.

In case you are wondering, cats were also welcome!
