LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, Pa.– A report of a homeless man who chased a Lingelstown middle school student at a bus stop in Lower Paxton Township on Monday morning was a hoax, police said Thursday.
Initially the student reported that as she was walking to a bus stop in the Clermont subdivision, a homeless man began chasing her.
Follow up interviews with the victim, her friends and her guardian revealed that the incident did not happen, police said.
The report Monday prompted authorities to increase patrols in the neighborhood. Authorities do not plan to file charges.
Even though the story was fabricated, police remind parents and neighbors to remain vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary, especially during the times when children are walking to and from the bus stops.
