WILKES-BARRE, PA — A teacher in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District has been suspended for showing a video in class.

The video discussed the benefits of “sexual self-gratification” which the area’s public schools do discuss according to WNEP.

School officials say the video was not part of the Coughlin High School curriculum for the teacher who reportedly showed it.

The video is labelled as educational on YouTube and uses animation and statistics to explain the effects of sexual self-gratification.

But some people may consider parts of the video too graphic for high school students.

Wilkes-Barre Area Superintendent Bernard Prevuznak said it is a personnel issue.

Sources close to the case say at least one parent complained, and after school officials reviewed the case the superintendent found it “inappropriate.”

The Wilkes-Barre Area School Board could decide how it plans to discipline the suspended teacher at its next meeting.
