DERRY TWP, Dauphin County, Pa — A crash at Hersheypark this morning closes Park Boulevard while police investigate. It happened around 8am. A Derry Township Police Dept patrol officer witnessed an SUV traverse onto Hershey Entertainment Corp property near Park Boulevard and crash over an embankment some 30 feet onto Park Boulevard. According to police, the driver committed motor vehicle violations on nearby Hersheypark Drive prior to crashing. Park Boulevard runs through the Hershey grounds between Hersheypark Drive and Route 743, providing access to the major Hershey venues.
Fire Dept and EMS crews were called to the scene and the driver, only described in a police department release as a male, was taken to nearby Penn State Hershey Medical Center following extrication from the vehicle. Police are not releasing the driver’s name at this time. They say no one else was in the vehicle when it crashed.
The Derry Township Police Department requested investigative assistance from the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office and Dauphin County Accident Reconstruction Team.
