HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Harrisburg man was tased after police say he resisted arrest. It happened early Wednesday morning on the 500 block of Curtin Street.  Police stopped a maroon Honda Accord around 4am for an expired registration tag.  As the initiating officer returned to his vehicle a backup officer remained to observe the driver, Tony Knight.  The backup officer told Knight repeatedly to keeps his hands on the steering wheel.  A search of Knight’s criminal history revealed that he had a gun history.

Knight was asked to step out of the vehicle so officers could conduct pat down.  Knight stepped out of the vehicle and began resisting the pat down.  Officers attempted to handcuff Knight as he resisted and attempted to flee.  Officers deployed a Taser to no effect.  Believing that the cartridge may have malfunctioned, the officer deployed a second cartridge which did function and allowed officers to handcuff Knight.

Knight did have on his person crack cocaine with a street value of $200, marijuana with a street value of $200, and $1,061 in cash.  Knight is not employed at this time.
