LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - People in Dauphin County are using food for a special cause by helping to make wishes come true. The 1st "Wish Upon A Food Truck Festival" was held in the Gander Mountain parking lot in Lower Paxton Township on Saturday. 20 trucks rolled in to roll out food to help fund the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The organization grants wishes for children who are battling life-threatening illnesses.
Music, activities, and prizes were available to the community, all to help bring a smile to a child's face.
"I am so thrilled that all these people came out here to help Make-A-Wish because it makes such a difference in a child's life and the family's life," Volunteer Wish Granter and Event Organizer, Sherrie Davis said, "and to see this support really means a lot."
The local regional office of Make-A-Wish granted 319 wishes in the past year. The average cost of a wish is $10,500 which includes both cash and in-kind donations.
All donations collected at Saturday's event will go to the foundation.
