HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Harrisburg city man will serve at least 15 years in prison for four armed store robberies in 2014 where he threatened women employees with a knife.

According to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s office, Benjamin Palmer, 62, was sentenced Tuesday to 15-30 years in state prison. He had pleaded guilty on Monday to four counts of robbery, one count of aggravated assault and related charges just as his trial was about to begin.

Palmer admitted to two robberies at the Family Dollar on South Cameron Street, one at the Rite Aid on Derry Street, and another at the Hess gas station on Market Street in June and July of 2014.

Officials said the gas station clerk tried to get away, but Palmer chased her to the back of the store. He chipped a tooth when he tried to stab her in the mouth and sliced her ear when he went for her neck.

The employee needed 11 stitches, but she managed to escape the attack through a back door.
