LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.  A Kinzers man is headed to jail after he admits to striking a horse-drawn buggy carrying an Amish family, then fleeing the scene and breaking down his car.

Michael Lee Roe pleaded guilty to three counts of felony hit-and-run and related, lesser offenses regarding the December 29, 2014, crash in the 6400 block of White Oak Road, near Christiana.

Roe reported in at Lancaster County Prison late Friday evening.

Lancaster County Judge Margaret Miller accepted the agreement and ordered sentence. State sentencing guidelines called for a 1-to-12-month sentence on each count of hit-and-run.

Three members of the Fisher family were hurt in the crash. Two of them sustained broken facial bones; the other, a concussion.

As part of sentence, Roe was ordered to pay over $55,000 in restitution: for the Fishers’ medical bills and damage to the buggy.

The silver Honda Civic was being stripped in a garage. The hood, roof, doors and bumper were all cut off the car, police reported.

A couple days later, Roe gave a statement to police, denying he struck the buggy; he claimed he struck a deer.

However, pieces of the car left at the crash scene matched Roe’s Honda.
