LANCASTER, Pa. – Church World Services in Lancaster assists refugees from all around the world. Friday night CWS was set-up for Lancaster County’s Extra-ordinary Give, a fundraising event for non-profits. People against Syrian refugees coming to America heckled CWS and the organization has even been receiving hate mail.
“Of course there`s always those that do have their opinions and their right, to voice that. So that`s expected, ” said Stephanie Gromek, Community Research coordinator of Church World Service.
The organization says they had more supporters than non. Last year, during the event, they received 83 donations. This year, they received over 200 and exceeded their $25,000 goal.
