LEBANON COUNTY, Pa.– Two people from Middletown, Dauphin County were killed in a four-vehicle crash in Lebanon County, just before 10:00 p.m. Friday.

According to PA State Police, a Toyota Camry was  traveling west on Interstate 78 in Union Township, when it was rear-ended by a tractor trailer, driven by Andre D. Kennedy, 40, of High Point, North Carolina.

The accident caused the Camry to be pushed into the median. State troopers say the driver and a passenger in the car died at the scene. The passenger is identified as 45-year old Dawn M. Bortner. The name of the driver, a 50-year old man, has not yet been released.

According to investigators, after the initial impact, the tractor trailer that hit the Camry, continued and hit the back of another tractor trailer that had been stopped for traffic in the left lane.  That big rig was driven by 60-year-old Victor Meledez of Lebanon. That crash then forced that rig to rear-end a third tractor trailer that was driven by Julio C. Adames, 47, of Orlando, Florida.

The drivers of the first two trucks were injured. There is no word on their conditions, or if the operator of the last tractor trailer was hurt.
