YORK, Pa. - Volunteers at the York Rescue Mission formed assembly lines to help pack 1,700 Thanksgiving boxes. The boxes are filled with canned, boxed, and bagged goods which will be delivered to families in York County who may be struggling to put food on the table this holiday season.

"They live paycheck to paycheck," Rescue Mission Executive Director Matthew Carey said, "so this helps them this time of year making a decision can they utilize this food to feed their family instead of having to pay a utility bill, so I think that's one of the reasons why people are reaching out."

Most of the food was donated through an annual food drive.

The mission will also be hosting a community Thanksgiving service and dinner at its facility on West Market Street this Thursday starting at 11 a.m.
