MIDDLETOWN, Pa.–Middletown Area High School returned to normal operations Thursday after school administrators said a suspicious note was found in a bathroom.

Police responded to the school and determined there was no direct threat. In light of recent events across the country, school administrators decided to err on the side of caution and evacuate the building around 12:25 p.m., according to a statement posted on the district’s website.

Police and maintenance staff swept the building and found nothing out of the ordinary.

The school was deemed safe and classes resumed as normal.

School officials have not revealed the nature of the note.
