HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Thursday night the Senate passed budget legislation to the House of Representatives.

Some of the House Democrats wanted to go into session Friday, but House Republicans said they needed to look over the hundreds of pages of bills.

Steve Misken, spokesman for the House majority leader, said, "I would be shocked if anybody can sit here and tell you they know every single thing on whatever that bill is and are ready to vote on it right now. So no. Being here today would not move anything forward."

After 164 days, a budget still hasn't been passed. The Speaker of the House pushed the House's session back two days. House Democrats held a press conference to express their displeasure with the delay.

Representative Kevin Schreiber said the Republicans have already had plenty of time.

Schreiber said, "It's a compromise that the governor has agreed with, Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats, House Democrats agree to it. The only thing standing in the way of a state budget right now is the House Republican caucus. Most notably: the Speaker of the House."

Some House Democrats said they want to get the budget passed this weekend. But House Republicans are wary about some of the Senate legislation.

"There are definitely things of concern. For instance, the last minute cuts to some charter funding," Misken said.

The House Republican spokesman said they are also concerned with protecting taxpayers and getting Pennsylvania out of the liquor business.

Both sides of the House agree getting the budget passed is largely overdue. The House session is now on Sunday.
