DERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Police in Dauphin County put down their badges to lace up their ice skates to honor fellow Pennsylvania officers who've been killed in the line of duty. Officers hit the ice for the annual COPS for K.O.P.S. event at the Giant Center in Derry Township. It's held to honor the lives of fallen officers within the Pennsylvania region while raising money to help their loved ones.

"We thought it was something special to come up with an event like this to keep the honor and the memory of those officers, at the forefront, and take care of those families so they have nothing to want for," Derry Township Police Chief Patrick O'Rourke said. "So, to keep this going every year, and to support the local family members that have been impacted by the line of duty.. it's kind of special to keep that going."

This year, six officers killed in the line of duty were honored.
