HARRISBURG, Pa.-- Two Harrisburg parents who pleaded guilty to murdering their nine-year-old son will be sentenced Wednesday morning.

Dauphin County prosecutors called it one of the worst child neglect cases they had ever seen and say they are pushing for the maximum penalty for both Kimberly and Jarrod Tutko.

The couple pleaded guilty in October to several charges including third degree murder, child endangerment and aggravated assault.

The Tutkos admitted they neglected their son Jarrod, Jr. which eventually led to his death in August 2014.

The nine-year-old boy died from starvation, weighing only 16.9 pounds when police found his decomposed body in the family's Harrisburg house.

He had been dead for nearly a week.

While investigating Jarrod, Jr.'s death, authorities discovered his sister, 10-year-old Arianna, was also just days away from dying.

The Tutkos pleaded guilty to child endangerment and aggravated assault charges related to her condition as well.

Jarrod, Sr. is facing 52 years.

Kimberly is facing 47 years.

The two are scheduled to go before a Dauphin County Judge at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
