COLUMBIA, Pa. - Volunteers packed and delivered boxes in Lancaster County to help send a little holiday cheer to people in need. The Columbia Lions Club and Sunsnappers sponsored the holiday food box delivery event which benefits families in the area facing tough times this holiday season.

The community helped pack about 700 boxes at the Columbia Fire Department along the 700 block of Manor street.

Organizers say the event continues to grow each year.

"This food is enough food for some of the elderly for a month," Kenneth Kramer, Jr. said, "So we're getting to the needy people  and we're also getting the community to help and the kids, and the high school kids and right on down to the toddlers."

Next Sunday December 27th, the groups will be handing out Christmas dinners to seniors in Columbia and surrounding areas.
