DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – A Hummelstown woman faces theft charges for allegedly stealing dozens of UPS and FedEx deliveries from porches and mailboxes of residences in East Hanover Twp., South Hanover Twp., West Hanover Twp., Derry Twp., Susquehanna Twp., Harrisburg and other surrounding areas.

Police say the woman would drive around those neighbors and steal packages from various on-line stores that were delivered by UPS and FedEx.  A witness in South Hanover Township saw the suspect remove a package from his neighbor’s porch and called State Police with a description.  Troopers responded to the call and well able to make an arrest.

It was discovered that the suspect had stolen 60 packages, of which 47 have been returned to victims. Effort is being made to return the remaining packages to their rightful owners.  Police are withholding the name of the 23 year old suspect due to their ongoing investigation.

Anyone who may have recently expected a package that has not yet been delivered as expected and /or may have believed it was stolen is ask to contact Pennsylvania State Police at (717) 671-7500 or contact your local police department.

The Pennsylvania State Police has offered a few simple tips to keep your packages safe-

  • -Always require a signature on delivery.
  • -Have packages sent to your place of employment (check with your employer to see if it is allowed) or to a family member or friend who can accept it for you during daytime hours.
