LANCASTER, Pa- A Lancaster man will serve up to 9 years in state prison for separate armed robberies of a boy and a restaurant where he used to work.
According to the District attorney’s office, Daniel Rivera, 21, previously pleaded guilty to felony counts of robbery, conspiracy, and related charges regarding the summer 2014 robberies in Clay Township and a Manheim Township Subway restaurant.
On Tuesday, a Lancaster County Judge ordered Rivera to serve 4 ½ to 9 years in state prison.
In June 2014, Rivera, robbed a Subway on New Holland Avenue, Manheim Township police reported. Management at the restaurant told police they suspected an ex-employee was responsible because the robber knew how an employee can access the cash register, and knew the location of the shop’s light switch.
Rivera was terminated from Subway the previous year.
He fled the robbery with $180 cash and cellphones of two employees.
A month later, he robbed a boy, at gunpoint, of marijuana in the 200 block of West Burkholder Drive, Clay Township.
Assistant District Attorney Maria Cusick requested consecutive sentences on the two robbery charges and a count of illegal possession of a gun.
