YORK, Pa.--
Christmas dinners were being giving out at the West York Reliance Fire Company. C.J. Hoffman's group Local Feed the Vets provided the meals. They were providing them for people who had nowhere to go for Christmas.
"We don't want anybody spending Christmas by themselves so we urge them to come down here and spend the day with us," C.J. Hoffman said.
This is the third year for the event. She said it is to honor her husband.
"Last night was 39 years that he got killed and we started this in his honor," Hoffman said.
She said to put this together it took many seven day weeks to get this together. All the help she had today was from volunteers.
"I had fun with my grandkids yesterday," Greg Warner. "I thought I would come in here and help make someone's day be a little brighter."
For the people who came to the event, they were welcomed to a full dinner.
"This was fantastic meal," Korean veteran Karl Hassler said. "I didn't expect to have a meal half as good as this."
For Hoffman, this is what the event is all about.
"They have terrific stories, and we just love feeding them," she said.
They also delivered 12 meals to the Vigilant Fire Company in downtown York as well.
