MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Two teens were arrested Sunday afternoon after leading police on a chase in York County.
The incident unfolded when a Northern York County Regional Police Officer attempted to pull over a vehicle on a traffic violation at the intersection of North George Street and West 11th Avenue in Manchester Township shortly after 1 p.m.
After a brief chase with police– the 16-year-old driver and his passenger abandoned their vehicle along East 8th Street and took off on foot.
Both suspects were eventually captured after they were tackled by police and a witness, investigators said. One of the teens was in possession of a loaded gun. Police are still trying to determine who owns the gun.
Authorities charged the 16-year-old with fleeing and attempting to elude police as well as numerous traffic violations. The passenger, 18-year-old Esteban S. Velaquez, of York, is charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, prohibited offensive weapons and criminal mischief.
Both were arrested and taken to central booking.
