SPRINGFIELD TWP., York County, Pa. -- A York County man is facing charges for threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, State Police Troopers and judges. Police say Howard Timothy Cofflin Jr. was making a bomb and assault rifle to carry out an attack.

Cofflin has been behind bars since being arrested by police in Maryland in October 2015.

State Police held a press conference to announce new charges filed against Cofflin today.

Cofflin was charged January 6th, 2016 for Criminal Attempt/Murder of the First Degree, Criminal Attempt/Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer of the First Degree, Terrorism, Threat to Use Weapons of Mass Destruction, Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats.

These charges stem from statements made from Cofflin regarding his desire to kill his ex-girlfriend, Pennsylvania State Troopers, and County Judges; as well as his actions of buying parts to fabricate an AR-15, supplies to build improvised explosive devices, purchases of body armor and ammunition.
