YORK TOWNSHIP, Pa.--  The Jewish Community Center in York County opened its doors on Sunday, showing off an $8-million expansion.

The grand re-opening featured larger and newly renovated pre-kindergarten classrooms and a fitness center. There are new cycling and group fitness rooms and a weight room as well. Tours were given, along with fitness demonstrations.
A total of 17,000 sq. ft. was added to the facility.

"It allows us to meet the demands of the community really. It allowed us to take 55 new children off of our wait list for our child care, it also allows us to meet the needs in the wellness and fitness area of our entire community," says Matthew Scarpato, COO & CFO of the Jewish Community Center.

The JCC currently has about 7,000 members.
Initiation fees were waived for all new members who signed up on Sunday.
