YORK CITY, Pa.–A 64-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in York City after police seized more than 1,200 bags of heroin from his vehicle, according to court documents.

Ramon Luis Torres, of York, was taken into custody along the 400 block of West Market Street following a two-month investigation. Authorities searched his vehicle and found 1,257 bags of heroin in the front seat area, according to the criminal complaint. The heroin is believed to be worth over $25,000.

Police began investigating Torres in December after witnessing him sell heroin to an informant, court documents state.

Investigators say Torres would travel to Philadelphia on a weekly basis and return with over $20,000 of heroin each trip. Within a week of returning, he would sell the heroin and then return to Philadelphia for more drugs.

Torres is charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal conspiracy. He was arraigned and taken to York County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29.
