HARRISBURG, Pa.–A 22-year-old man was arrested in Harrisburg early Wednesday after authorities said he nearly ran over a police officer during a traffic stop last month.

Sharief M. Hand, of Steelton, is charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing and eluding, driving without a license and numerous traffic violations. He turned himself into authorities Wednesday shortly after midnight near N. 15th and State Streets.

Hand had been on the run since the Dec. 19 incident along the 100 block of N. 17th Street. Police  pulled Hand over during a traffic stop–when they say he tried to run over a Harrisburg city police officer. Hand rammed a marked police vehicle, narrowly missing the officer. He later abandoned his vehicle near N. 19th and Park Streets. He was on parole for robbery, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5.
