MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Manheim Township School Board and community are battling over whether or not the board held closed door meetings. Some people feel the meetings violated the Pennsylvania Sunshine Law that requires just cause for a closed door meetings.
"They know the laws. We elected them, we trusted them and that trust is just broken," said Sophia Schramm, a senior at Manheim Township.
In a letter, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office cleared the board of any wrongdoing and essentially gave them a warning.
The meeting further addressed the board wanting to hire a firm to find the next superintendent. The cost would be between $15,000 - $17,000.
"I adamantly oppose spending a single dollar, that we don't have, on a search firm," said one attendee.
Hiring a firm was tabled.
" I like that they tabled it. I think that was a good idea. See what the options are. Present the options and we will go from there," said Renee Heller.
In the wake of everything. people are still asking for board president Bill Murry to resign. He says he does not plan to go anywhere. They are searching for an interim superintendent.
