Fire Chief: Fire in vacant rowhouse intentionally set

YORK, Pa. – An early evening fire that damaged a vacant York City rowhome was intentionally set. That is according to Fire Chief David Michaels. The fire broke out just before 6 pm in the building in the 700 East Market Street.  The first firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke pouring from the second floor windows of the three story structure.

The fire was quickly brought under control. Damage is estimated at $40,000.  The investigation into the cause continues.
