YORK COUNTY, Pa. – A Springettsbury Township man dies a week after he fell off a ladder. Steven Melhorn, 56, of Springettsbury Township, died Sunday afternoon at York Hospital from injuries he sustained from that fall.
Melhorn was injured on February 14 when he apparently fallen off a ladder while working at the Giant Supermarket in Shrewsbury. He was transported to York Hospital for treatment.
According to the York County Coroner, Melhorn’s condition stabilized briefly during the week, but deteriorated again this past Sunday when he died.
An autopsy was completed at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Tuesday morning. The Coroner’s Office determined Melhorn’s cause of death was from pulmonary arterial thromboemboli due to complications from multiple blunt force trauma. His manner of death was ruled accidental.
The incident was reported to and is under investigation by to OSHA.
