SILVERDALE, Wash. -- A Washington state couple tells
KCPQ
they feel lucky to be alive after a semi's tire came flying through their windshield Tuesday afternoon.

The couple, who wishes to remain anonymous, were driving down the highway when the woman says she saw a semi truck two lanes over with a tire that was wobbling.

"I don't understand how we made it; it was like God came down and just smacked the tire out of the way just in time," the man told KCPQ.

The couple had minor injuries, but are otherwise ok.  The car, a 1999 Honda Civic, is now totaled.  The couple, who are having some financial difficulties, just purchased the car minutes before the accident.

"I was thankful to be alive, I didn't want to have to say goodbye to my kids," said the woman.

Washington State Troopers are investigating, but believe the may have been an issue with how the tires were mounted.

The couple are working with the driver's insurance company, but they also have a GoFundMe account.
