CUMBERLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A website has been set up to assist families wishing to file a complaint who have loved ones buried at an Adams County cemetery that has fallen into disrepair.
The Adams County District Attorney’s office along with the Cumberland Township Police Department announced Thursday that there is an ongoing investigating involving complaints made against Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens located in Cumberland Township, Adams County.
Detectives are actively interviewing potential victims, witnesses and associates.
The District Attorney’s office is requesting that anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a potential crime regarding the investigation to report it to police.
The public may electronically access the complaint form by clicking “Oak Lawn Cemetery Reporting Form” on www.adamscounty.us or www.cumberlandtownship.com.
According to Adams County Veterans Affairs Director Stan Clark, there are 573 veterans interred at Oak Lawn.
Former cemetery owner James Delaney lost possession of the property over the summer after he defaulted on a loan.
A letter sent by Monahan Funeral Home said the new land owner is Ramesh Rao. He purchased the real estate at a sheriff sale. It said he purchased the land and not the cemetery. He is not licensed and cannot operate a cemetery. Rao is looking for someone to operate but does not have someone yet. The letter goes on further to say the company of Oak Lawn is bankrupt and its assets are in control of the court.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office is assisting in the investigation.
