HANOVER, Pa. – Fire has left two people homeless in Hanover Borough, York County.  The fire broke out just before 9 pm in the 200 block of Carlisle Street across from the Hanover Shoe Factory.  Firefighters arriving on the scene reported heavy flames and smoke pouring from the windows of the structure, a small two story apartment.

The fire apparently started on the first floor of the apartment. The two occupants of the rental property, were not at home when the fire broke. Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading to an adjacent apartment building and house. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to knock down the fire.  There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire, preliminary, is undetermined.  The property is a total loss.
