WRIGHTSVILLE, Pa.–A York County judge has ruled that prosecutors can continue to seek the death penalty against a Wrightsville man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend last April.
Marcus Bordelon, 22, is accused of killing 21-year-old Samantha Young on April 19. Young was Bordelon’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of their 1-year-old daughter. Bordelon’s girlfriend, Natasha Stover, 20, is also charged in Young’s death.
Bordelon and Stover allegedly conspired to kill Young for more than two months. Young’s body was found in a locked shed behind Bordelon’s home, at 121 Chestnut Street, after she didn’t show up for work. An autopsy revealed Young had been stabbed 52 times.
In his ruling dated March 2, Common Pleas Judge Harry M. Ness wrote it’s the defense’s burden to prove that there are no aggravating circumstances. Ness said, the prosecution offered an array of evidence to support that the crime was committed through torture. He also wrote, we are satisfied that the Commonwealth is not seeking the death penalty for an improper reason.
Both Bordelon and Stover are charged criminal homicide, tampering with evidence, obstruction, abuse of a corpse, and criminal conspiracy. The couple remains in York County Prison without bail.
