A Lancaster man has been ordered to trial regarding allegations that he beat two men while removing them from a city club.

William R. Blasdell was working security at Chameleon Club on Jan. 2, when he punched and dragged two men while removing them for being in a restricted area.

Witnesses, which include a man who recorded the incident, told police that Blasdell punched the men and “man-handled” them as they were being ejected from the club.

The men sustained cuts and bruises and one man’s glasses and cellphone were broken. Both were bleeding when police arrived at the North Water Street club just before midnight.

On Tuesday, District Judge Bruce Roth found that there was enough evidence was presented at a preliminary hearing to order Blasdell be tried in Lancaster County Court on charges of assault, harassment and criminal mischief.

Both men testified at the hearing, along with another man who witnessed the incident, according to Assistant District Attorney Erik Neiman.
Another witness, who had recorded the incident on his cellphone, was removed from the club after Blasdell took his phone. When he received his phone back minutes later, the video had been deleted.

Blasdell is free on $2,500 unsecured bail.
