HAMPDEN TOWNSHIP, Pa.-- A Cumberland County family organized an event to honor their loved one on Saturday and it also supported their local police officers.
Family and friends held "David's Bowling Benefit" at Trindle Bowl in Hampden Township.
The fundraiser helped celebrate the life of David Byers, who was killed in 2010, when a gas pump he was using to fuel his car, caught fire in Lower Allen Township.
Money raised at the event will go toward Lower Allen Police Department's TEAM Program.

"I feel wonderful, I feel great. To know that all his friends still think about him, care about him enough to come out and support this cause," says Lisa Arrasmith, David's mother.

David's Aunt, Lori Rector says, "It's amazing. It gives us as the family something else to do, you know, instead of remembering his death on, you know, the 5th of March, remembering his life and to help out like I said other children and to keep his memory alive."

The department's TEAM program stands for "Teaching, Educating, and Mentoring."
Officers give lessons to students in the West Shore School District about drugs, guns, internet safety, and other topics.
