NEW HOLLAND, Pa- A Lancaster County man is facing charges after police say he broke off the inside door handle of a police car while he was intoxicated.

David Haggs Jr. is being charged with institutional vandalism and public drunkenness.

According to police, Haggs was seen staggering on the shoulder of W. Main Street in New Holland. Haggs was arrested for pubic intoxication and taken to the police station.

After police issued citations, officers took Haggs to the area of his residence and let him out, after Haggs refused to give police his exact address.

Police say at one point Haggs attempted to walk into a stranger’s house. Haggs was placed back into the police car, and proceeded to break off the inside door handle.

Haggs was taken back to the police station and is now facing additional charges.
