UPDATE: Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced today that there are charges being filed against three religious leaders associated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.
Kane says the men are a part of a conspiracy that allowed more than 80 victims to be sexually abused by Stephen Baker, who is accused of molesting children from Bishop McCort between 1992 and 2010. Baker worked as a religion teacher and athletic trainer at Bishop McCort High School before committing suicide in 2013.
The charges are against Giles Schinelli, 73, Robert D’Aversa, 69, and Anthony Criscitelli, 61. The mean are a part of the Franciscan Friars that are located in Holidaysburg, Blair County. Each has been charge with one count of endangering the welfare of children and criminal conspiracy.
This announcement comes two weeks after Kane revealed the findings of a grand jury report that alleged sex abuse within the diocese.
