Deadly crash closes route 272, North Reading Road in Ephrata Twp., Lancaster County

EPHRATA TOWNSHIP, Pa.–One man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Lancaster County on Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. on Route 272 just north of Springhouse Road in Ephrata Township.

Investigators say a southbound dump truck collided with a northbound SUV. The male driver of the SUV died at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

So far, no word yet on the identity of either driver.

The Lancaster County Coroner and police are investigating.

Route 272 between Schoeneck and Garden Spot Road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
